Although it’s a bit embarrassing to admit, at the age of 32 (when I should know better), I avoided going to the dentist for three years. I had been moving a lot and never saw the need to find and visit a dentist when I didn’t have anything obviously wrong with my teeth. That’s still not a very good reason, but it was my excuse nonetheless. Finally, after three years I broke the cycle and decided to go to the dentist after I got a role in a regional theatre company in Sacramento, California.
As an actor, my physical appearance is a part of my job and I was beginning to see that my morning coffee was taking its toll on the brightness of my smile. When I arrived at the dentist’s office, I was sure that my fastidious care of my teeth would garner praise from my dentist. However, to my chagrin, I had not one, but two cavities. I was taken aback but my dentist assured me that sometimes cavities can occur despite our best efforts. I told him that I was an actor so he recommended that I get tooth-colored fillings that will blend easier with the rest of my mouth. I didn’t even know such things existed and asked if he could also replace the fillings I currently had with tooth-colored ones. I was excited to find out that he would be able to do it the very next day.
After I received my teeth whitening and tooth-colored fillings, I was able to start my new job with complete confidence in my smile. I will never forget Ultimate Dental and will always use them when I a working in Sacramento. It may not have been a completely virtuous reason that I found Ultimate Dental, but luckily my need for teeth whitening finally got me to see the dentist.
