Rumors about The Mortal Instruments TV series came when some people thought that what they saw in a theater preview about a new TV series, showing a guy with character similar to Jace, was for Mortal Instruments.  But actually, the TV series preview was not for the Mortal Instruments TV series. Jace Wayland, Jonathan Christopher, or Jace Lightwood is one of the major characters in the Mortal Instruments series written by Cassandra Clare. The series of novels is composed of City of Bones (released on the 27th of March, 2007), the City of Ashes (released 25th of March 2008), the City of Glass (released 24th of March 2009), and the City of Fallen Angels (released on 5th of April, 2011).

People who have read and followed the series had mixed emotions about the Mortal Instruments TV series. Some find it amazing since they love the story and they know that making it into a TV series is better than doing it into a movie. Many believe that a TV series will give more justice to the story in the book. However, some are not agreeable to having the books either as a TV series or a movie.  They believe that a television or movie adaptation of the book is very difficult and will not be exactly like the book. The book fanatics hope that at least the essence of the story should be at the TV series or movie and that the filmmakers will not butcher it like what they did with other popular novels.

The Mortal Instruments TV series is not true and the truth is; Mortal Instruments series will be adapted for a movie. Screen Gems will produce the movie adaptation and the scriptwriter would be Jessica Postigo. Official announcements were made that Lily Collins will portray Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell-Bower will act as Jace in the Mortal Instruments movie adaptation.
